I wanted to quote extensively from Keep the Aspidistra Flying. The passage I wish for describes Gordon's dinner with Ravelston and Rosemary, his descent intodrunkenness, his entanglement with some whore and finally his arrest. In the morning, in the cell, he is given sugary tea. As I lay there this passage played through andthrough my mind.
